Announcement of the 3rd Round of Recommendations for “The Greats in Taekwondo History”

In order to permanently commemorate and preserve the great achievements of people who have contributed to the promotion, development, and globalization of Taekwondo and the enhancement of its status worldwide, the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation has announced its 3rd round of recommendations for "The Greats in Taekwondo History" as follows. We ask for your active participation in this program.

1. Candidate eligibility requirements

① Those who made a great contribution to the training, education, promotion, dissemination, skill development, and globalization of Taekwondo.

② Those who set an example to earn respect from the people who practice Taekwondo around the world.

※Please note that the following candidates shall be rendered ineligible for consideration. 1. Anyone under adult guardianship or limited guardianship, and/or who has declared bankruptcy but has not yet been discharged; 2. Anyone sentenced to imprisonment without labor or greater punishment, and/or anyone who has completed/been exempt from such a sentence in the past five years; 3. Anyone sentenced to a stay of imprisonment without labor or greater punishment, and/or anyone to whom a stay period has been extended in the past two years; 4. Anyone in a period of a suspended sentence after being sentenced to imprisonment without labor or greater punishment; 5. Anyone forfeited of or suspended from qualifications by the court judgement or the laws; (*Please note that any non-Korean candidate who meets any of the aforementioned descriptions will also be rendered ineligible.)

2. Number of people to be selected: ◯ persons

3. Referrers: candidates must be recommended by one of the following referrers

① Public institutions related to sports and foreign relations, overseas diplomatic offices (including foreign embassies in Korea)

② Kukkiwon, World Taekwondo, the 5 continental unions of the World Taekwondo, the Korea Taekwondo Association, the Korea Taekwondo Association for the Disabled, and/or the national Taekwondo Association located in each country (Please note, that with the exception of the Korea Taekwondo Association, national Taekwondo Associations can recommend a candidate through the 5 continental unions of the World Taekwondo)

③Public media organizations, such as newspaper and/or broadcasting companies (includes Taekwondo-related magazines)

④ Other Taekwondo-related public interest organizations

4. Documents for submission: One copy of each form (recommendation letter and accomplishment report), accompanied by supporting documents (copies)

5. Recommendation period: December 2, 2019 (Mon.) to April 30, 2020 (Thu.), 24:00(KST)
